For the
Official Website of Acton Maine,
go to www.actonmaine.org.

I will be updating www.actonmaine.com over time, removing resources that are of a more official nature and that are duplicated on the official website - which has been a long time coming but I'm happy to see has now arrived!

The mission of this page is to be a central information resource for the town, and is available as a free public service to town residents and organizations. This page changes as I have the time, which has been rather rare for the last couple of years. However, rest assured that the grand scheme calls for increasing the variety of information presented here. That being the case, come back and visit us now and then; and/or feel free to drop me an email to suggest what you might like to see here.

I am ever in search of suitable materials for posting, and am appreciative to those individuals who can save me the time and trouble of beating the bushes for said materials. Send me an e-mail, or use the Postal Service: Paul Poyant, PO Box 679, Acton ME 04001-0679.

At the moment, at some stage of completion I have an online interactive Acton map, and a Frequently Asked Questions page. When will they see the light of day? Good question!

For those of you who ask questions (and there are a fair number of you), I do supply answers as known. However, I am now officially way backed up on questions that have been submitted to me, mostly because I don't immediately know the answer and don't have the time to research it. So, if you do not receive a response, or get one perhaps two months later than you expected, it's a matter of resources - not intent.

I have received some thoughtful feedback regarding my recent deactivation of the Acton Community Forum. In short, I am in fact planning on bringing it back, but in a format which will require the use of logins identifying each contributor. It's sad that it has to come to that, but clearly the concept of blind trust wasn't working. There are no guarantees, but I figure that this will at least keep the viciousness to a minimum - and hey, I can always send slashers to the penalty box for a month or two... So, I guess the depredations of a few ultimately won't impact the many.
Update: The replacement will be in the form of phpBB version 3.0 - whenever it is released, which in theory is sometime this year (it just went Beta in June 2006!). Users will like the features.
